1. Restaurant of the Century Pop-Up - Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the East English Village neighborhood with great Detroit restaurants, drinks, entertainment and artisans. July 18th.

2. Soiree on the Greenway - Head to the Dequindre Cut for a "city chic" evening with food trucks, cocktails, entertainment and art. July 18th.

3. Ann Arbor Street Art Fair - Michigan's largest art fair is actually four art fairs in one. Over 500,000 people will cram the streets of A2 for art, entertainment, street performances and artist demonstrations. July 17—20.

4. Kiki's Delivery Service - This edition of the Saturday Animation Club at the Detroit Film Theatre is from Hayao Miyazaki. It tells the story of a young witch with a high-flying delivery service and the talkative black cat that accompanies her. July 20th.

5. Inaugural Storytellers Festival - The Detroit Historical Museum hosts an afternoon of cultural storytellers and traditional song and dance. July 21st.

1. Entre-SLAM Detroit - Are you a solopreneur or entrepreneur? Entre-SLAM launches in Detroit this week as a place for you to tell your stories or listen to others experiences. This week's theme is "Still standing." July 11th.

2. Plymouth Art in the Park - Michigan's second largest art fair features over 400 artists from around the U.S., including paintings, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, fiber, glass, woodwork, photography, folk art and more. Plus, food and entertainment. July 12—14.

3. Rockin' on the Riverfront - The annual free summer concert series on the Detroit River kicks off its 2013 lineup with The Romantics. July 12th.

4. Shinola Saturday Bike Ride - Join the newest purveyor of bikes and watches made in Detroit on a liesurely guided bike ride to Historic Fort Wayne. July 13th.

5. Walt Disney's Mary Poppins - Catch this classic musical film starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke on the big screen. Disney historian Jim Korkis will be on hand to answer questions. July 12—13.

1. Salute to America - Now in its 21st year, this Independence Day celebration has become a tradition for many Detroit families. Enjoy the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, 19th-century lawn games, food and spectacular fireworks. July 3—6.

2. Concert of Colors - Metro Detroit's free annual diversity music festival features performances by The Family Stone, Don Was’ 6th Detroit All-Star Revue and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Ozomatli at great Midtown venues including the DIA, the Max M. Fisher Music Center, MOCAD and the Scarab Club. July 4—7.

3. Friday Night Live Lawn Party - Part of Concert of Colors, this edition of FNL takes place on the south lawn of the DIA. October Babies will perform original songs in English and Japanese. July 5th.

4. Dig into Science: Animals Underground - Grab the kids and head to the Michigan Science Center and learn about the different burrowing animals and their homes. July 6—7.

5. Drunks of Antiquity: A Historic Bar Tour - Take a tour of Detroit's oldest, most notorious and most interesting bars including Abick's Bar, Nancy Whiskey, Charlie's Bar and Giovanna's. Enjoy a few pints and hear a few stories. July 6th.

1. Michigan Challenge Balloonfest - There is tons to do at this annual event but the star of the show is the balloon launch and fly-ins. Don't forget your camera! June 28—30

2. Stars & Stripes Festival - Now at Freedom Hill County Park, the festival features musical performances by Collective Soul, Randy Travis, Cake and Puddle of Mudd. Other activities include a carnival, arts and crafts, monster truck rides and a BMX stunt show. June 28—30.

3. Midwest Highland Games - It's not just haggis and bagpipes! The "extrememe physical contest" features such awesomeness as the Manhood Stone, the hammer toss and caber toss. June 29—30.

4. Fairy Tale Festival - Take the kids to the magical grounds of the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House for a Mad Hatter Tea Party where they can meet Alice, the Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter and the White Rabbit. June 29th.

5. Concert of Colors Tune Up - It's almost time for Metro Detroit's free diversity festival. Get the party started early in New Center Park with the MAKU Sound System, BombaRica and DJ Sets by WDET. June 29th.

There is so, so very much going on in Detroit this weekend. Get out there and enjoy Detroit!

1. Third Thursday Detroit Art Hop - Thursdays are the new Fridays! Over 55 galleries & businesses have extended hours and special events including artist's studios, one night only exhibitions, live music and more. June 20th.

2. River Days - Head to the Detroit Riverfront for land and water activities. Tall ships, riverboat tours, live music, food and carnival. June 21—23.

3. All American Jam - This new Mt. Clemens music festival features free entertainment by Annabelle Road plus Kiss and Arrowsmith tribute bands. There's also fireworks, food and a carnival. June 20—23.

4. The Science of Rock 'n' Roll - Explore the history of rock and roll, learn the science and technology behind music and find out how sounds are produced in this new interactive exhibit at the Michigan Science Center. June 20—December 31.

5. The Secret of the Kells - This edition of the Saturday Animation Club at the Detroit Film Theatre was a 2010 Academy Award Nominee. From the DIA's website, "magic, fantasy and Celtic mythology come together in a riot of color and detail that dazzle the eyes while telling a sweeping story." June 22nd.

And don't forget, the Ford Fireworks in downtown Detroit are on Monday, June 24th.
