1. Drinks x Design: Red Bull House of Art + Design - The June edition of Drinks x Design takes you to the basement of E&B (Eckhardt & Becker Brewery) for a talk on the program for up and coming artists. June 13th.

2. Jazzin' on Jefferson - Jazz, blues, food and arts and crafts take over the streets of Detroit's lower eastside. Local and national acts are featured. June 14—15.

3. The Complete Metropolis - Metropolis, the science fiction classic, will be shown at the Masonic Temple with an orginal score performed on The Historic Scottish Rite Cathedral skinner organ by organist Clark Wilson. June 14th.

4. BRU Fest 2013 - Enjoy craft beers from Bell's Brewery, burgers from Bagger Dave's and wings from Buffalo Wild Wings to benefit a good cause, the Children's Leukemia Foundation of Michigan. June 15th.

5. Orvis Fly Fishing clinics - The entire family will have fun and learn something new at these FREE classes on fly fishing in Royal Oak and Ypsilanti. June 15—16.

1. Light up the RiverFront - Enjoy views of the Detroit River with entertainment, BBQ and campfire treats at Milliken State Park. BYOB, coolers, chairs, blankets etc. June 6th.

2. Cranbrook Institute of Science - Enjoy free admission after 5pm and learn about astronomy, the Ice Age, Mastodons and more. Be sure to check out the Bat Zone! June 7th.

3. Orion Music + More - Head to Belle Isle for this music festival featuring Metallica and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Plus a custom car and motorcycle show, the Globe of Death, a skate demo, film fest and more! June 8—9.

4. Rivertown Detroit Kids Fishing Fest - Gone fishing! This free event is open to beginners and seasoned pros. Poles and bait will be provided. June 8th.

5. Lemonade Day Detroit - Support our youngest entrepreneurs by stopping by one of the many lemonade stands that will be set up throughout the area. June 8th.

1. Detroit Nerd City - This edition of Nerd Nite 313 celebrates Detroit's musical heritage with four presentations on Motown, scratching, freestyle rap and musical improv. May 30th.

2. 50th Annual Birmingham Village Fair - Yep, it's carnival season! Head to downtown Birmingham for carnival rides, games and food. May 30—June 2.

3. Downtown Hoedown - Yeehaw! Get your annual dose of Country Music at Comerica Park featuring Uncle Kracker and Jake Owen. May 31—June 2.

4. Detroit Grand Prix - Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines! Racing returns to Detroit with a weekend filled with races including the IZOD IndyCar Series and GRAND-AM. Live music follows the racing each day (Brett Michaels and Plain White T's headline) and Friday is free day. May 31—June 2.

5. Ferndale Pride - Promote and celebrate diversity on the streets of Ferndale this weekend. The street festival is on Saturday but there are events all weekend long. June 1st.

1. Movement Electronic Music Festival - If it's Memorial Day weekend it's time for the music festival that Detroit is known for—Movement. Enjoy over 100 artists on 5 stages plus pre and after parties all over town. May 25—27.

2. Techno in the 313 bike tours - Speaking of techno, hop on two wheels and visit Detroit's historic electronic music sites, including The Music Institute, Underground Resistance HQ and the Packard Plant. May 26—27.

3. Orchard Lake St. Mary's Polish Country Fair - The 42nd annual fair features a carnival, entertainment, a Vegas tent and—of course—Polish food! Be sure to check out the grotto while you're there. May 24—27.

4. The Aether: The Steampunk Convention - Party like it's 1875 at the newest Steampunk convention in metro Detroit. Artists, musicians, steampunk wardrobe, cooking, literature, and knowledge for both families and adults. May 24—27.

5. The Motown Mowdown - Grab your lawn mowers  and weed wackers and join The Mower Gang on their 24-hour Mow-A-Thon. Why? "Because kids need a place to play and they can't cut their own grass." May 25th.

1. Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo - Meow! Hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens will be available for adoption at the Detroit Zoo in this collaborative effort with the Michigan Humane Society and over 20 local animal organizations. May 17—18.

2. Books & Beer Backyard Bash - Like books? Head to the Old Miami for a celebration of Michigan writers hosted by the Wayne State University Press. May 17th.

3. Motor City Comic Con - Kapow! Pop culture, super heroes, comics and Stan Lee will all be at the Suburban Collection Showplace this weekend. May 17—19.

4. Oakaloosa Photo Walk at the Historic Fort Wayne - If you've never been to this historic fort on the Detroit River—or even if you have—grab your camera and explore it through your lens. May 18th.

5. Dossin Great Lakes Museum Re-Opening - After months of renovations, the museum re-opens this weekend with extended hours. May 18—19.
