1. Metro Times BlowOut - Now in its 17th year, this is one of the best weekends of the year for music lovers. Tons of bands will be playing some of the best venues in Detroit, Hamtramck and Ferndale. April 30—May 3.

2. Penguicon - Are you a hacker, maker, foodie, open source software junky, anime buff or science fiction fan? Then this is where you should be this weekend. May 2—May 4.

3. Palmer Park Art Fair - After 30 years, the Palmer Park Art Fair is back and reinvented! Enjoy art, a martini bar, local food trucks and wooded trails. May 3—4.

4. Detroit Rummage Sale - From vintage collectibles to everyday needs, this indoor sale will be held at the Tangent Gallery. May 4th.

5. Next Step SOUP - This version of SOUP will benefit a past winner so they can build an ever bigger dream! Bring a dish to pass as they are moving to a potluck-style dinner. May 4th.

1. Michigan Modernism Expo - Love mid-century modern? Head to Southfield and check out almost 50 Modernism merchants including pieces designed by Herman Miller and Frank Lloyd Wright. April 25—27.

2. Three Stooges Film Festival - Nyuk! Nyuk! Nyuk! American vaudeville at its finest with Larry, Curly, Moe and Shemp. April 25—26.

3. Taqueria Crawl - Jump on the taco bus! The Detroit Bus Company will run a loop around some of Southwest Detroit's best restaurants, supermercados, bars and taco trucks. April 26th.

4. Totally Awesome Fest - Looking for fun, music and pancakes? Ypsi is the place to be with a week of all-ages events. April 20—27.

5. An Evening with Hugh Acton - Furniture and jewelry designer and craftsmen Hugh Acton will be at Nora for an intimate showing of his orbit bracelets and slat bench. April 25th.

4. August: Osage County - Modern America or dysfunctional family? Yes. Go see this dark comedy by Tracy Letts at the Hilberry Theater. April 18—19, through May 10th.

2. Bat Zone - Nestled behind the Cranbrook Institute of Science is a nocturnal sanctuary for rescued bats and other creatures. Watch bats in flight, flying squirrels, owls, a two-toed sloth and a colony of Vampire Bats! April 5—6.

3. Belle Isle Aquarium - The aquarium is open every Saturday from 10am-3pm and this week they have a special talk on "Electric Fish in the Era of Genome Sequencing." April 5th.

4. Michigan Science Center - Kick off Space Week with rocket science! Explore how rockets move and make your own straw rocket. April 6th.

5. Detroit SOUP - Learn about creative projects in the city and vote on which project you would like to fund. $5 gets you a bowl of soup and the opportunity to do some good with good people. April 6th.
