Detroit Moxie's Weekend Roundup

Now in its third year at The Henry Ford, Maker Faire has become one of our favorite events in Detroit. Both adults and kids will enjoy the demonstrations, inventions and hands-on activities.

Highlights of Maker Faire include the Coke and Mentos Guys, a life-size Mousetrap game, a Lego Brick Challenge Game Show and Handmade Detroit and other local crafters. There is something for everyone at Maker Faire!

I'd love to see nano-machines that are able to perform surgery.

A car that automatically senses your height, eye level, etc and adjusts the seat and mirrors for you. My husband and I are a foot apart in height, which makes constantly having to readjust the car a real pain in the neck.

Defintely a self-cleaning house . . . I need more time for the important stuff like creativity and fun!

I would like to see complete neighborhoods and cities developed that are totally off the grid. Each individual home has its own source for power for heat and electricity. And, each homeowner in these cities, has the right to determine if they want power, how much power or none at all.

I know this isn't very "politically correct", I would love to see healthy cigarettes that will actually clean your lungs and not have any horrible side effects...

I would like to see a time travel machine invented, naturally.:)

Transporters!

I would like to see a better, faster, cleaner way to travel long distances. Flying on planes is exhausting and involves lots of waiting around in uncomfortable places (I fly coach, obviously). Driving takes all day (or more) and is hard on the rear-end. And trains don't go everywhere I want to go; plus they're slow. For those days when I'm in it for the destination not the journey......I want teleportation!

A self cleaning bathroom. Self contained, one push of a button and voila! All surfaces are cleaned and disinfected. At the very least, a self cleaning toilet seat would be nice...no more tinkle sprinkles.

A refrigerator that suggest what to do with open items before expiration.

I would like someone to invent a toy that will entertain my cat for more than a few seconds.

Personal 'Hypospray' devices as an alternative to the needle syringes that are currently used for all the medications from flu vaccines to insulin.

I would love to invent a self cleaning toilet...I spend to many hours cleaning that thing with 3 boys...ugh!

I would like to invent a device that would freeze time to keep us from aging!

I'd like windshield wipers that don't leave streaks right at eye level

I would like a car that never breaks down and is self cleaning. I never have to take it to the car wash, wash the windows or change the oil. It will do it all itself and never get old and rusty. It must run on water and be able to turn into a boat too.

I would love to see steam powered automobiles. I know their highly impractical, but they sound like good fun.

I envision augmented reality contact lenses or even corneal implants that work along the same vein as Google glasses. They would have passive data and passive power connection to your smartphone and serve as an in eye display for smartphone or to overlay info onto what the eye sees (augmented reality). Many control actions could be accomplished by eye movements and blinking patterns. 'Blink twice to capture an image. Never have to reach for your camera again.' Sensors detecting blood pressure and galvanic response could detect extreme stress and begin remotely record video to smartphone in emergency situation. Many more possibilities...

Digital cameras that take still photographs in 3D and capture smells too!

My son would say either an automatic dog pooper scooped or like all 10 year old boys automatic homework machine. Me on the other hand always wanted the Jetsons automatic shower and clothing machine. Oh and don't forget the one touch oven from the Jetsons.
