Win Tickets to Thomas the Tank Engine™

Thomas the Tank Engine™ is rolling into Greenfield Village for the Day Out With Thomas™: The Celebration Tour 2010.

Detroit Moxie is excited to give away a family 4 pack to this fun family event. I know many of you have young kids, or in my case a husband that acts like a 6 year old, so I hope you enjoy this.

Thomas is celebrating his 65th birthday and wants to celebrate with all his fans, young and old alike. Hop on the train and take a ride on a 15-ton replica of Thomas the Tank Engine. Children will also have the opportunity to meet Sir Topham Hatt, Controller of The Railway, and participate in other fun activities.

Day Out With Thomas will be at Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan on April 23-25, April 30-May 2, and May 8-9, 2010.

The Loot

One winner will receive one family 4 pack of tickets to Day Out With Thomas™ valid for the date of their choice. Yep, that's 4 tickets in total. Tickets include admission to Greenfield Village.

To Enter

Simply tell me in the comments why you would like to go see Thomas the Tank Engine™ at Greenfield Village. Please use a valid email address, as this is how I will contact the winner.

I would love to win the tickets to give them away in a drawing at the Merrill-Palmer Early Childhood Center, which I work at in Detroit. It is a center run by Wayne State University, and many parents are students and their children are enrolled there on grants. The children love Thomas the Train and always play trains, so I know they would really enjoy this gift. It would mean so much to us, and I know whoever would get to go would have the time of their life :) Thanks so much for this opportunity.

Jonathan--"I want to see Thomas because I love trains and train rides, and Thomas is the coolest train in the whole WORLD! Oh, and I haven't been to Greenfield Village since I was a little kid. And James has never gone."

James (nearly shouting)--"Me LOVE Thomas, Mommy!!!!!"

You know what? I was going to write about how great it would be to take my two kids.

But after reading some of the other responses (from people I don't even know), I'm not even going to submit anything. I say give 'em to someone like Jason G. or Sara J.

Great posts and some great people!

Living not far from the Royal Oak Train Station, my son often hears the whistle of the passing trains. Every time he hears one go by he says, "Listen Mom, it's Thomas!". As an adult consumed with everyday distractions, I often do not even notice the whistle of the passing trains. Having become used to the sound, I suppose I tune it out. But the carefree and innocent, three year old that he is, my son's excitement reminds me that even with all the busy noise of the day, there is still time to stop and listen to the sounds, of what he believes to be a friendly engine, hard at work. For him, meeting Thomas in "real life" at Greenfield Village would be a truly magical experience!

Our home is Thomas crazy. I have trains in the living room, bedrooms, bathrooms, car, purse… and I am sure, in my hair. But, who has time to wash and comb their hair when you can play with trains?

How many trains do we have? Fifty six trains. Plastic, wooden, metal and the nameless cheapies that you find at Ikea.

How did this obsession start? Nearly a year ago, we lived in China (home of Thomas the tank engine and nearly all toys). Anyhow, in China the trains are sold for less than $2.00 (Yes, really, even the wooden trains that are sold for $15. Regretfully, I did not smuggle in a suitcase filled with trains to the U.S. ).

For us, it was easy to pick up a unwrapped train on a weekly basis (albeit one that was guaranteed to be rejected in the U.S. for lead poisoning). We have all obscure trains – Thumper, Diesel 10, Skarloey…

How will this obsession end? Big fire in the back yard. I am hoping.

Until then, I will scour the internet for competitions such as this from great sites such as this one (*kiss*), for our once in a lifetime opportunity to win tickets to see Thomas.

What if we don’t win? Well… now, here is the sad the story. My son, Orin, who is three years old… a beautiful boy… was just…

Just kidding! We will still visit your site daily and post snarky comments about how we visited the Detroit’s Michigan Central Station, because we didn’t win tickets and thought maybe that would be a good substitute for a sad little boy who wanted to see Thomas at Greenfield Village. Do you want a 3 year old boy, who loves Thomas to commit a crime (trespassing) in desperate search to find Thomas? Do you want a 3 year old to hop that rusty barbed wire fence guarding the train station? Is that train station a place for 3 years olds to play? No? Well, choose us!

My daughters would love this and I am always happy when I see them happy.

I would truly appreciate and enjoy a day out with my 3 and five year old boys. They both love Thomas and we have had a very difficult year. We are all adjusting to a lot of changes, due to family separation and it is difficult both financially and time-wise to get to enjoy events like this! We could all use a great day with Thomas.

Thank you for your consideration.
P.S. If we are selected May 8th would be a great way to kick off mother's day weekend!

Dorothy,
So sorry you're going through a difficult time. Unfortunately, the contest ended last week.

My first born grandson is two years old and he LOVES Thomas. He knows all the names of the characters and every time we go to the library he heads right to the Thomas Dvd's. He has been such a good boy throughout the last year even though there has been a lot of stress in his home. His other grandmother became ill and had to move in with them in November 2010. His mother gave him a new baby brother in December 2010. In January 2011, his grandmother died right in front of him. My son and daughter-in-law have gone through a lot this past year and I would love to surprise their family with these tickets.
